Resource Description
Students make best progress when they move from what they know to what they do not know. Writing is complex with many parts. Scaffolding Sentence Writing - A Boat Ride students to move from what they can do [speaking] to what they find more challenging [sentence writing] using Questioning ['wh' questions] as a scaffold. This resource bundle is compatible with Colourful Semantics. It incorporates the science of writing research by incorporating elements of sentence parsing, sentence combining and sentence expansion while also incorporating a system for scaffolding student learning to support their success. The task can be easily adapted to provide extra challenge [paragraph writing] or extra support and tasks are designed to be achievable within a 30 - 45 minute session. Classroom & Clinic tested for Speech Therapy, School Based Intervention, Classroom and Homeschool use. References are provided for those wanting to expand their knowledge of the practical application of research. The structure of the resources in this bundle is the same as the Free Resource 'Scaffolded Sentence Writing: The Lost Dog' but on a new topic. Low prep sentence writing activities incorporating 'wh questions' and picture prompt scaffolds. This resource supports both a sentence combining and colourful semantics approach to scaffolding sentence writing for classroom use or as a speech therapy wh question activity. Target 'wh questions' include Who, What, Where & When and supports progression to paragraph writing. This resource contains printable activities for daily practice and review.
